Built this about 4yrs ago and screwed up the finish. Stripped it, refinished it and kinda dig it. (need better quality pic though)

Picture of the painted home office I finished last week. A simple traditional design to match period and feel of house. Solid brass hardware from Horton Brasses. Pull out keyboard/mouse shelf in center. Lights mounted under upper bookcase.

Found this pic today. A dream is born. C. 1997 High School Woodshop Class. More hair, less body fat, but also much less wisdom, so I’m still ahead…right?

Finally finished. Just make sure everything works just right, crate and ship! Have to get some pictures taken by a professional before it goes though.
Wood is soft maple with black stain and lacquer. Turned ash knobs. Hand cut dovetails and mortise and tenon joints throughout.

Sort of Jin-di-sugi ish Cypress Table
This table is in the “Jin-di-sugi” style, however I used a powered wire brush wheel instead of burying it and waiting for the soft wood fibers to decay. I think I’ll be writing a full blog entry on this soon. This was just a utility table for my daughters bunny cage, but I like the technique and will develop it in some pieces to come.

Total tech overload!!!! Looking for new layouts/themes, etc. for tumblr, blogger, etc. and driving me a little batty. At least the web site is were I want it to be…for now. Sometimes wish I A) knew what I was doing w/ all this stuff B) could afford to pay someone to do it for me.
But…I have a limited skill set and I’m pretty much OK with that.

more ramblings
Going to be writing a new blog post on the idea of “disposable” consumerism. I think this is a good time for such a topic.
Main points:
buying cheap vs. buying what will last (both in relevance and durability)
how disposable consumerism hurts “green” ideals
how this time in history will (HOPEFULLY) transition from quantity mindset to quality mindset.
+ anything else that comes up.
Ideas welcome.
Finally boiled my business philosophy down to two basic elements:
1) Build beautiful furniture for those who will appreciate it.
2) Share/Teach whatever I can to whomever will ask.
More to come.

Finally going to finish the infamous wedding present this weekend. (The wedding was in October…2007) Nuff said. Will post more when completed.
